Our story
Welcome, friends
Gospel Baptist Church is in Harrisonburg, Virginia, a beautiful corner of the Shenandoah Valley with mountain views and a gentle climate. But as the saying goes, the climate that matters most is the one in a person’s heart.
We are a congregation of families who love God’s Word, sing His praises and want to live lives that honor Him. We are far from perfect, but we take great comfort in knowing that the One who loves every person so remarkably is present among us.

What we believe
Three convictions at our heart
The Bible
We believe the whole Bible is inspired by God and is sufficient to explain the meaning of this world and of our lives, to give hope to the hopeless, and to teach us how to please God in every situation.
2 Timothy 3:16
The presence of God
Our deepest goal is the presence of God. Where God is present, in a heart, a family or a church, peace, rest and harmony are sure to follow.
John 14:23
A set-apart life
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification.” We want Christ to be seen not only deep in our hearts, but in how we look, speak and live, inside the church and out.
1 Thessalonians 4:3

Families & children
Raising the next generation
Our parents agreed that we are responsible for what God has entrusted to us: our children, His heritage. Parents lead in their children’s upbringing and education, and the church and school help. Our children learn in conservative Christian schools or at home, and the church provides financial support for every student, starting in preschool.
Music is a big part of that preparation. We have two orchestras and individual lessons, and almost all of our children play and sing to the glory of God.
Our fellowship
Part of a wider family
Our statement of faith follows the doctrine of the International Union of Churches of Evangelical Christians-Baptists (IUC ECB), and we are united with other churches through its ministry.
Services are held mostly in Russian, with English translation available.
